Dear birdJammers,

Welcome to the many new members of the birdJam family! It has been an exceptionally busy spring for us, especially because we were trying to get out into the field ourselves. We could tell that spring was a bit late this year because birdJam orders follow the birds as they move north. Canadian orders really started rolling in about mid-May this year, about two to three weeks later than previous years.

iMainGo2 Speakers Are Finally Here!

At long last, the new iMainGo2 Speakers have arrived and are now priced at $39.99. We've tested the iMainGo2 with Nano, Classic and Touch iPods, and all seem to work very well with the new heat-sensitive plastic cover. Although iMainGo2 is the same size as the previous model (weighing 9 ounces and measuring 5.7" x 3.8" x 2.4", the iPod compartment has been enlarged to accommodate the iPod Touch as well as Nano and Classic models. Volume and sound quality continue to be excellent. You'll still need 4 AAA batteries for 30 hours of playback time. You can order just the iMainGo2 speaker or a birdJam iMainGo2 Bundle.

birdJammers Honored by ABA

Two birdJammers have been recognized for their contributions to birding by the American Birding Associations.

Bill Fenimore, received the American Birding Association's Ludlow Griscom Award, the ABA's prestigious and highest honor for Outstanding Contributions in Regional Ornithology. Bill is the owner of the Wild Bird Center in Layton, Utah. He is a leading organizer of the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival, author of "Bird Sighting" a weekly Salt Lake Tribune column, vice-chair of the Utah Division of the Wildlife Resources Advisory Council, and leader of birding expeditions throughout the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.

He also serves as Trustee and Board member of such diverse organizations as the Utah Wildlife and Conservation Foundation, Ogden Nature Center and Utah Wildlife Board Nominating Trustee (appointed by Utah Governor Jon Huntsman). He was also an early adopter of birdJam in Utah andhas been a real pioneer for us by using his birdJam iPod on bird walks and in his store.

Bill Thompson, editor of BirdWatcher's Digest, is the "Robert Ridgeway Award" winner for excellence in publications pertaining to field ornithology. bwd_i80Bill is a prolific writer, producing not only BirdWatcher's Digest Magazine, but numerous publications such as the Young Birder's Guide published this spring by Houghton-Mifflin.

His blog chronicles his continuous birding adventures around the country and the world. Birdwatcher's Digest was one of the first publications to review birdJam (then known as birdPod), and Bill credits seeing several life birds to his use of birdJam. He's a great field trip leader, working diligently to make sure that every birder on his trips experiences success.

Wanna' Be A Star?

We are working to gain national coverage for birdJam in publications such as the AARP Magazine and Reader's Digest, among others. To entice the editors of such publications, we need to provide them more insights into the use of birdJam, about birdJammers, and some quips about funny, poignant and/or unusual experiences with birdJam. We'll be sending out a short online survey soon, and we would be very grateful if you would take just a few moments to fill it out. Who knows, perhaps you'll find yourself or your program featured in a well-known and respected magazine!

Signing Off...

That's it for now from birdJam! Have a great summer, and please, keep in touch.

With many thanks!
Denese, Jay and Charlie
