birdJam for Eastern Warblers draws on a brand new warbler song collection produced by the Ohio Division of Wildlife and Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics.

This collection of 50 Eastern warblers includes up to two minutes of songs and call notes for many species, often with three or four primary songs, five or six alternate songs and multiple chips and call notes.

A companion 70-page booklet includes photos, range maps, descriptions, song spectrograms and other information.

Speakers, Speakers, Speakers

The next generation iMainGo is Delayed. We are disappointed to report that the new model iMainGo portable speaker for iPod Classic and iPod Touch has been delayed to about June 1st. You've heard about the "slow boat from China." Well, the president of Portable Sound Lab reports that's how the shipment of new model iMainGos is migrating to the U.S. We'll keep you posted as we learn more. However...

The Orbit-MP3. Because of the delays with the iMainGo, we've added the Orbit-MP3 Speaker to our Online Store. It has outstanding sound, and works with all models of iPods except the iPhone. The trade off is that it doesn't create a single, integrated unit as the iMainGo does. However, it is available now for $29.95! And...

The Audiowrapz. If you use a 3rd generation (latest) iPod Nano, and want a small and extremely portable "personal" speaker for your Nano, take a look at the Audiowrapz speaker/case. Playlist Tip:

The fastest way to find any bird song with your birdJam iPod is by using one of the playlists that we created. Many of you use the alphabetic playlist most often to find a specific bird on your iPod.

If you have birdJam Maker and the Stokes bird songs installed in iTunes, then you might want to consider installing four new alphabetic playlists for even faster access: A-F, G-L, M-R, and S-Z.

You can download these new playlists in the latest version of birdJam Maker. Once you've installed the latest version, just go to the File Menu, click on Download Optional Playlists, and select the playlists that you'd like to download and install. New birdJam Maker Mac Version now Available

A new Mac version of birdJam Maker is now available for download. This version has been updated so that you can add the new modules for SE Arizona/Sonora, Mexico and Costa Rica. It also streamlines loading photos and playlists. Note that the upgrade is free of charge, while the new modules are priced at $19.99 each.

New Young Birder's Guide:

While most of you are experienced birders, if you know young people who are just getting started, you may wish to steer them towards a new field guide by Bill Thompson III, editor of Birdwatcher's Digest.

The Young Birder's Guide to Birds of Eastern North Americaincludes more than 200 birds and is designed to draw budding birders outside and into the field. Plus, we've created a companion birdJam for Young Birders so they can have more than just the latest music on their iPods!

birdJam Spring Survey :

Many thanks to the hundreds of birdJammers who participated in our Spring 2008 Survey! You should have received your birdJam t-shirt as our thanks for participating. Here is a summary of the survey.

As a group, birdJammers are experienced birders who spend 15+ days a year birding. You study with birdJam before going into the field, and then use your iPod to validate what you're hearing. In addition to your binoculars and iPod, you carry field guides, cameras and cell phone into the field. You use the alphabetic playlist most and got comfortable using your iPod in less than an hour. If you do call in birds, you use a specific bird song rather than an intruder bird call.
