Sounds of the House Finch
Carpodacus mexicanus

Shortcut: Warble ending with a harsh, descending note

Song: Song is a cheery, musical warble lasting several seconds, often ending with a harsh, descending note. In the presence of a female, males may sing an excited, more continuous version. Females occasionally sing simplified songs.

Call: A common call is a nasal wheet or seet, sometimes given sharply, other times in a more drawn-out manner. Another distinctive call sounds like chi-chuwee.
