Sounds of the Song Sparrow
Melospiza melodia
Shortcut: Several bright notes followed by warbles and trills
Song: The male's voice begins with several bright notes followed by a sequence of warbles and trills that varies considerably among individuals. Each male has a repertoire of up to ten different song types and repeats one type several times before switching to another. Although songs vary, the species pattern is easy to learn and recognize.
Call: When agitated, Song Sparrows give a nasal chimp or a high-pitched tsip.
