birdJam: The App

birdJam: The App splash pagebirdJam: The App is a companion to birdJam Maker and features a sleek, new interface, range maps and quiz. It is FREE(!) to all birdJammers (existing and new) but only works on the iPod Touch and iPhone. It will NOT work on a Nano or Classic. See: birdJam products in the iTunes Store.

Jay and Charlie devoted months to designing the bright interface so that it is simple and easy-to-use even in difficult field conditions.

We added the range maps to the outstanding birdJam bird (and frog) songs and photographs as essential information to quickly identify a species in the field. No, we didn't clutter up birdJam with lots of field guide information that could slow you down. We want birdJam to continue to be the best tool to take you from hearing the first zip or call in the field to positively identify what you've heard and, perhaps, seen.birdJam: The App Ruddy Duck sample page

Even if you only have the East OR West birdJam region installed, you'll get playlists, photos and range maps for all East AND West birds. But, you'll only have songs for whatever regions you already have installed. You simply purchase and install the other region if you wish to have bird songs for all of North America.

If you loaded birdJam to your iPod yourself, see instructions for how to install the new birdJam app if you loaded your iPod yourself.

If you have a pre-loaded birdJam iPod, see instructions for how to install the new birdJam app on your pre-loaded birdJam iPod.birdJam Range Map for Ruddy Duck  birdJam: The App Quiz Mode

We also added a quiz so you can improve your bird song identification skills. A bird song will play but the photos will not show, giving you an opportunity to test your skills before tapping the screen to see the name of the birds.

Using the birdJam App.  Once you're downloaded and installed the birdJam App to your iPod Touch or iPhone, here are some great instructions so you quickly learn how to use it.  Click birdJam App Instructions for Word, or click birdJam App Instructions in PDF format.
