Who We Are

We're often asked how we got started. Back in 2004, Jay and Charlie took a Master Birding Course from the Atlanta Audubon. The power of birding by ear was obvious, so Jay decided to load some bird songs from the Stokes CDs to his new iPod. He did some initial work to split tracks, remove the narration and organize some rudimentary playlists.

Jay and Charlie took this very first "birdPod" on a field trip, and they were continually asked, "Where did you get that, and where can I get one?" They immediately knew they were onto something so they set about to create the revolutionary birdJam that enables most any birder to find a song/call in 15 seconds or less.

Thousands of birders now have signed on as "birdJammers," and we continue to innovate while keeping sharp focus on our mission: Delivering easy-to-use yet sophisticated audio-on-the-go for birders, complete with outstanding and knowledgeable service.

We are dedicated to bird conversation. We annually donate at least five percent of company profits to The Nature Conservancy and other non-profits dedicated to the conservation, enjoyment and rehabilitation of birds.

Our dedication to bird conservation drives us to provide information regarding the responsible use of powerful technology such as birdJam. Please read more about recommendations for responsibly using iPods in the field.

MightyJams (our parent company) is an Atlanta-based partnership. We feel tremendous personal gratification when our customers are delighted, and we will work with each of you to ensure you are happy and satisfied with birdJam. The birdJam partners are:
