Who We Are

We're often asked how we got started. First of all, we're birders.  And we all have technology and design backgrounds.  Back in 2004, Jay laboriously loaded some bird songs from CDs to his new iPod.

Jay and Charlie took this very first "birdPod" on a field trip, and they were bombarded with questions: "Where did you get that?" "Where can I get one?" Thousands of birders are now "birdJammers", and we're proud of our 98% customer satisfaction rating.

Our mission:  Fast, simple and easy-to-use technology for birding.  No clutter and no complexity.  We want you focused on the birds with your binoculars, not searching through an iPod or iPhone for buried information.

Conservation:  We annually donate at least 5% of company profits to The Nature Conservancy and other non-profits dedicated to the conservation, enjoyment and rehabilitation of birds.

Ethics:  Our dedication to bird conservation drives us to provide information regarding the responsible use of powerful technology such as birdJam. Please read more about recommendations for responsibly using iPods in the field

Eastern Time Zone:  We are an Atlanta-based partnership. We feel tremendous personal gratification when our customers are delighted, and we will work with each of you to ensure you are happy and satisfied with birdJam.

The birdJam partners met on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Audubon:

Who We Are

Jay Davis, keeps birdJam at the forefront of easy-to-use technology for birding. He leads bird walks for the Atlanta Audubon (AAS), serves on the AAS board of directors and is responsible for a breeding bird survey in his neighborhood.  He still in his self-proclaimed "Year of the Duck."

Charlie Haynes combines his passion for birds, science, photography and design to ensure that birdJam is "perfect" for learning and use in the field.  He would spend all his time birding except he's also dedicated to creating the best birdJam customer experience possible.

Denese Van Dyne combines high-tech marketing expertise and a passion for birds, birding and birders. You'll often find her at festivals or on the telephone with customers, editors, affiliates, and others. She apologizes if you get her voicemail and encourages you to leave a message so she can get back with you ASAP.

If you would like to contact us, use our contact birdJam page, send an email to support@birdjam.com or call us at 1-800-403-5524. You'll find us both passionate about what we do and enthusiastic about your questions and needs. With best wishes and many thanks, Denese, Jay and Charlie
