About birdJam

birdJam is the fastest and easiest-to-use bird song identification tool for the Apple iPod® and iPhone. In less than 15 seconds, you can find and listen to any of 1,000+ bird species plus dozens of frogs and toads.

Find species through logical playlists that are alphabetic, taxonomic, habitat, family groups, sound alikes, and others. You can also create custom playlists for your specific birding needs.birdJam iPod with iMainGo2 speaker

Learning and Identification

birdJam is the most straightforward and fastest tool for learning bird songs. birdJam trains your ear with high quality bird songs to rapidly build your "bird sound vocabulary" for quick recognition of target species.

In the field, a flick of your finger will locate a specific species on your iPod or iPhone so that you can validate what you've heard. A definitive photograph allows you to reinforce your learning by reminding you of key field marks.

Purchase only what you need!

At birdJam, we'll provide just what you need. Some birders want to just download the birdJam Maker software so they can load their own iPods or iPhones using their Stokes CDs. Others choose a complete pre-loaded birdJam iPod with accessories that are ready to go--right out of the box.

birdJam components

There are four essential components to a birdJam iPod:

  1. An Apple iPod or iPhone--any model except the iPod Shuffle.
  2. The birdJam Maker Software for regions or specialty collections you desire.
  3. The bird song CD collections to match whatever version of birdJam Maker you select.
  4. Any needed accessories such as a speaker, wall charger, or a protective case.

If you load your iPod yourself, then you'll also need a computer with iTunes. birdJam Maker is compatible with either Mac or Windows computers, as are iPods, iPhones and iTunes.

To make your decision, read through our web site, talk to other "birdJammers", and if you'd like help with your decision, send an email to store@birdjam.com or call us on 1-800-403-5524.

Everyone at birdJam is a birder, so we can talk about birds and birding, not to mention iPods and speakers, and our experiences using them while birding. We can also talk about our favorite birding festivals, birding while kayaking, birding while sailing, best places to eat when birding, and a number of other "birdy" topics!
